update: 8:45am - i stopped by the rocky hill ferry landing on my way to the office and it is really flooded. 3/4 of the parking lot is under water and as you'll see in the photos, the street signs are halfway submerged.

: flood waters have risen
i noticed a break in the weather late yesterday afternoon so i headed down to check out the connecticut river flooding. i crept around the road closed signs and flashing caution barrels at the intersection of rt. 17 & 17a and headed toward the flooded mess that is the portland fair grounds. the flood waters of the connecticut river have overtaken the grounds, the road is covered with several feet of water, and the fields are now lakes. i parked the car a safe distance from the flooding and went in on foot with my tripod and camera to snap a few photos. pretty wild down there!
